My First Pointillism Painting

1 day when I went down stairs to my 'then' art studio, I had a powerful urge to paint a image making use of dots. I do not know if the concept of butterflies was currently in thoughts at that time, but that is what I chose that day.

I discovered a photograph that I had taken of One particular butterfly and started with that. I lightly drew in common outlines and filled in the locations with dots. I placed this initial painting to the proper of center.

I then chose yet another photo and did the exact same factor. Then I repeated it One particular additional time. Every single butterfly seemed to fall in to place. I painted in some leaves and a flower working with common brushstrokes. The final painting looked like I had planned it that way.

I was actually in the flow that day, for I had not accomplished a preconceived layout. I just let creativity take its course.

I ended up with a painting of 3 butterflies that have been painted working with dots. They stood out from the rest of the image, that was carried out with brushstrokes.

When my pal came over and I showed it to her, she commented that I was the subsequent Seurat. Seurat, I wondered; who in the planet was Seurat.

I did not want to seem naive at the time, so I did not ask what I was asking yourself, but later looked it up on the net.

I located out that Georges Seurat was an artist from the Impressionist era, and that he had applied a style of painting that utilized dots. At the time he named this system divisionism. Later, the term pointillism came in to getting.

As I started my own pointillism journey, I looked on-line to come across out if there had been any descriptions of approaches so that I could attempt several types, such as beginning with smaller dots and progressively creating them larger. There had been no articles of such, at the time. So I continued making on my own.

That turned out to be quite fantastic, mainly because I could come up concepts on my own, just like I had carried out with my 1st pointillism image.

Early artists have been known as the masters, simply because they either came up with or perfected an notion. But that does not imply that we can not also come up with the very same or same suggestions.

I do recall finding out about Impressionism in higher college, but they did not go in to pointillism. So to me, this was a new venture, and I was becoming the master of my own creativity.

I now have an picture of that painting on the hoodie that I am wearing in the author's image. My artwork can be located at CherylsArt at Zazzle.com.
